Happy Holidays

Hello to all our soccer families!
It has been some time since we messaged you and I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy Holiday Season.
This year has been very trying for everyone. For the League a loss of our Spring 2020 and Fall 2020 seasons. We had every hope that we were going to be able to have those seasons, but it did not happen. The Michigan State Youth Soccer Association did open up play in late September, however there were many issues that came up. Your Board feels our decision to cancel our seasons was the correct way to go. We can learn from what transpired during the fall with other Leagues and be prepared for the new Spring 2021 season.
With the availability of vaccines - hopefully restrictions - though I am sure there will be some - may be lessened so the League can once again enjoy our game. We believe we will. Soccer is a great game and our players need their game and need to be on the pitch.
I was reading some quotes by Winston Churchill - which he made during WWII. Two came to my attention that I believe can have meaning today under what we have experienced this past year. One “This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” – Winston Churchill (November 10, 1942). I believe we can use the same quote today as we begin the vaccine distributions. Another that struck me could have meaning today is: "Never was so much owed by so many to so few". I look at this one for our early responders, our front line people in hospitals etc. I thank all of our soccer people who are in one of those positions! As Churchill said never was so much owed.
So until we begin preparing for the Spring 2021 season - let me extend to all of you - on behalf of the WYSL Board of Directors - a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Much Better New Year!!
