Fall 2021 Season Update

Good Morning Coaches,

We hope everyone is doing fine and ready for the upcoming Fall 2021 season.  At this time, we would like to extend a welcome to all our new coaches and thank you for stepping up to help the League continue teaching the game.  We also would like to welcome back all returning coaches and thank you for your continuing efforts and support.

Our Board of Directors has had some changes over the last few months and I would like to give a brief listing.  John continues as our Vice President, Dave continues as Secretary, and Dean, Kerry, Alyssa, and Andy continue in their positions.  Dan has moved from Referee Administrator to our Commissioner.  Xavier Whitacre joins the Board as our new Referee Administrator and Charlie Sale joins the Board as our Scheduler.  He will also be covering the scores and standings.  Board contact information is on our web site under the About Us tab.

I would like to extend my thanks to all or our returning Board Members and to Xavier and Charlie for stepping into their new positions.

As to the Fall season:

Charlie is finalizing the Fall schedule and will announce the posting of the schedules on our web site shortly.  Please pay attention to any comments he gives regarding the schedules.

I would like to give Kudos to Kerry for her hard work on this seasons registration.  As you all know a new online process is now in place and mandated by the MSYSA.  It has taken some time to get used to this process, however as we move forward it will get easier.  Coaches you now have more access to your teams information as you are entering information yourself.  Also, parents now enter their information.  This will be the process as we move forward.

The MSYSA has updated their Return to Play (RTP) directives based on the latest from the CDC.  The main issues are the MSYSA player wavier form is still a requirement and we will get those to you for your players to fill out - note: a download of the form is on our web site if you want to start now.  MSYSA also strongly recommends the disinfecting of soccer equipment.  We have planned a process for the game balls and will cover this at a meeting prior to the start of the season.

The MSYSA also requires us to keep the 6 foot distance on the sidelines.  They also require teams to be on opposite sides of the pitch - which we already do.  Further, no pre-game walk outs or team huddles are recommended.  Team shared snacks are not permitted, however participants can bring their own.  The MSYSA also recommends no car pooling with those outside the family households.

Wearing of masks - other than indoors - is not mentioned and we feel that at the present time this should be left to the parent/player.

We will announce a coaches meeting shortly to cover the above points and some additional issues prior the the start of the season.  It is important and mandated that all coaches attend all meetings.  If one can not have someone attend in your absence.

This has been a rather long message, however we feel we need to get everyone on the same page.  Again, please look for a meeting announcement soon.  All messages to coaches will now be through GotSport and not Got Soccer.  The MSYSA has dropped the Got Soccer format.
